Local & National Village Networks

WAVE is a forum through which nonprofit Villages in the Washington D.C. metropolitan area share experience and ideas. It works with senior-serving and inter-generational organizations and agencies, and encourages the growth and improvement of the Village movement within the Washington area.

WAVE has multiple meetings each year hosted by member organizations on a rotating basis in the three jurisdictions of D.C., Maryland, and Virginia. At the meetings, speakers address topics of germane to the member organizations. After the main presentation, time is allotted for discussion groups focusing on areas of interest to member villages.

The Village to Village Network is a national organization that collaborates to maximize the growth, impact and sustainability of individual Villages and the Village Movement. The Network provides expert guidance, resources and support to help communities establish and maintain their Villages. The Village Movement started in 2002 with Beacon Hill Village in Boston. Currently, there are over 200 active Villages and more than 150 in-development in 45 states and the District of Columbia. Village to Village Network and the Village Movement not only impact Villages and their members, but the lives of countless families, caregivers and members of the broader community they serve.

MISSION: The Village to Village Network is the essential tool that enables community members to build and sustain thriving Villages. The Network creates interactions that connect Villages with resources, education and expertise.

VISION: Through innovation, collaboration, advocacy and inclusion, the Village to Village Network expands opportunity, choice, support and care for all older people.
