Inspire your Memoir Writing through Visual Art with Mary Hall Surface. Discover how two "visual memoirs," works of art by two 20th century artists, African American Romare Bearden and Castillian Joan Miro, can inspire your own memoir writing. Join Mary Hall Surface, Village member and popular creative writing instructor for the Smithsonian Associates, National Gallery of Art, Chautauqua Institution, and more to explore the power of metaphor and memory in both art and writing. Develop tools for crafting your first steps toward capturing your own memories. This interactive workshop is designed for writers of all levels and for the curious.
2-hours. Please bring a journal and a pen. After these workshops, the Village Program Committee will schedule regular time for Villagers to meet at the Library to work together on writing their memoirs.
