The Virtual Gaithersburg Book Festival

The 2020 Gaithersburg Book Festival is being held virtually Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays through Sunday June 14.  It includes live-streamed TGIF live interviews on Fridays at 5:30 pm, pre-recorded YouTube video watch parties with authors at 7:00 pm on Saturdays, and workshops on Wednesdays. Sign up to Join Other Musicians and Artists to Perform for a Walking Tour of the 'Hood

Mt. Pleasant Neighbors Helping Neighbors is organizing a walking tour of live performances in Mt Pleasant to support the arts and fill the neighborhood with joyous vibes. Dance on your porch. Play out your window. Georgetown Village Talks with Madeleine Albright

The Georgetown Village will sponsor a fundraiser/book talk with former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright, about her new book, Hell and other Destinations, on Thursday, May 28, at 6:30 via Zoom. Secretary Albright will be interviewed by former CBS Correspondent Bill Plante in an interactive session. The contribution of $100 per participant will support villages throughout DC. Each participant will receive a copy of the book with an autographed bookplate, and $25 will be donated to the village of their choice. Register here.

Around Town DC

The DC Department of Aging and Community Living partners with Around Town DC to provide free weekday activities for seniors. Around Town DC has moved online through June 8. Enjoy online concerts, fitness and Zumba classes; learn about tea drinking, storycorps, drawing, watercolor and other arts, and more.

Kennedy Center's Digital Stage

The Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts has postponed its scheduled performances and live events through August 9, but it is offering a Digital Stage, providing online clips of performances from the Kennedy Center's stages and beyond, with new releases daily, special series and original stories and thousands of videos.  See: https://www.kennedy-center.org/digitalstage/.

Suns Cinema is Showing Films Online

Suns Cinema on Mount Pleasant Street now offers a selection of feature films online for tickets at around $10 - $12. Pay online and then you have five days to watch the film. Get info and films here.
 

Avalon Theater is Showing Films Online

Avalon Theater, DC's only nonprofit theater, is also streaming films online for about $12 per viewing.  See the lineup here.

Past Tense Senior Yoga Classes Online via Zoom

Past Tense Yoga Studio at Park Rd and Mt Pleasant St offers a live stream of its Tuesday and Thursday 9:00 am gentle senior yoga classes for $12 a class or $100 for 10 classes. Past Tense also offers other on-demand classes and monthly memberships. Check out the its offerings on the website here.

The Senior Planet in Montgomery County, MD, offers a number of free exercise classes via Zoom, as well as health resources and other information.
